"Went to the Tampa Shoot Straight for the first time today. Our intentions were to go and check out the facilities and the range. My wife and I live just under a hour away. We have been to other ranges a lot closer then Shoot Straight but was not satisfied. When we arrived at Shoot Straight today we were amazed on how big the place is. There show room was the biggest show room I ever been in for a gun shop. We went to the range counter to to sign up for the rife and hand gun ranges. At the counter we met Dave and he was so helpful and respectful. He explain everything to us and did not rush us at all, he was very patient with all the questions we had. Told him we like to shoot and maybe join, but we first wanted to try the range out and check out the place. He said no problem and had us fill out the proper forms. By the time we finished with that the other gentlemen was taken our information and he was also very courteous. Before we got done with him my wife and I decided we wanted the family plain membership. We are so looking forward this next year there. It's the only 100 yard indoor range that I know of. I was a great experience shooting at Shoot Straight."

We're animal lovers too! Here's a nice story... An associate at Shoot Straight Tampa found a large hawk, with a wounded left wing, in the parking lot. The Tampa store owner called the local Audubon Society, and watched over the bird until they arrived. The lady rescuer from the Audobon Society had never been to a gun store before. She discovered that although we sell guns, and some of us are hunters, we are also compassionate animal lovers! She later reported that the wing would be mended, the hawk would recover, and it would be released in the wild within a short time. Happy story ending :)

The Shoot Straight Story
The
year was 1979, when a small group of doctors decided to invest in a
former grocery store retail space, install a firearm range, and purchase
shooting sports inventory. “Shoot Straight” was born.
The years that followed witnessed steady growth through a succession of owners, until in 1994 “Weapons Unlimited,” a successful gun show enterprise, purchased “Shoot Straight” – now one of the larger gun retailers in Florida.
Sales continued to grow based on the company’s broad firearm selection, regular gun auctions, fair pricing, and great service. Always focused on serving the needs of its customers, Shoot Straight successfully adapted to the legislative cycles and changing demands of consumers over the decades. Then in 1996, the business leaped forward when it purchased another gun store and range in an East Orlando suburb - Casselberry. Under careful management, the two Central Florida stores flourished.
The year 2002 saw the advent of Shoot Straight’s first online venture – with a Web site that offered useful information about locations and contact information. This was followed in 2007 by the construction and opening of Shoot Straight – Tampa, the first enterprise expansion to Florida’s West Coast. This store featured one of the very few 100 yard, indoor rifle ranges anywhere in the country.
Shoot Straight today isn’t just one more lone gun shop. It is a thriving family of retail stores with a presence both online and at various Florida locations. The Ft. Myers and West Palm Beach locations have been the most recent stores to open, and are soon to be followed by a dramatic expansion of the Casselberry, FL store. “We serve hundreds of thousands of customers, with thousands of products from over two hundred industry leading manufacturers,” says Larry Anderson, the gravelly voiced character and lead manager at the Apopka, FL store. “I love what I do and I love helping people. That’s what we do best.”
